Nagma Valley β€” Quiet Orchard Villages Off the Main Trail

Hidden GemVillage LifePhotographyEasy Day Trip

Nagma Valley (also spelled Nagam Valley) is one of Skardu's quieter side valleys, a short drive from the city but a world away from the main tourist circuit. Terraced wheat fields, apricot and mulberry orchards, and stone-and-timber Balti farmhouses line the valley floor beneath bare granite ridges.

There are no major built attractions here, the appeal is the everyday rhythm of rural Baltistan. Best visited in a half-day trip from Skardu city, ideally in April to May when the orchards blossom or August to September during the apricot harvest.

Questions

It sees very few tourists, so you experience genuine rural Balti life, terraced farming, orchards and village hospitality, rather than the busier main sights.
