Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1, Arrive Islamabad

Pickup and briefing on the Gandhara civilisation; overnight in the capital.

Day 2, Taxila

A full day among the Taxila (UNESCO) ruins, Dharmarajika stupa, the city of Sirkap, and the Jaulian and Mohra Muradu monasteries, plus the Taxila Museum.

Day 3, Takht-i-Bahi

The superbly preserved hilltop monastery of Takht-i-Bahi (UNESCO) near Mardan, and the ruins of Sahr-i-Bahlol.

Day 4, Peshawar

The Peshawar Museum’s world-class Gandhara sculpture collection, the old city bazaars and Mahabat Khan Mosque.

Day 5, To Swat

Travel into the green Swat valley, once a major centre of Gandharan Buddhism.

Day 6, Swat sites

The Butkara Stupa, the Swat Museum and the valley’s Buddhist rock carvings and viewpoints.

Day 7, Return to Islamabad

Scenic drive back toward the capital; time for the Lok Virsa museum.

Day 8, Departure

Transfer to Islamabad airport for your onward flight.
