Shangrila Resort
Heaven on Earth
Shangrila Resort, on the shores of Lower Kachura Lake, is Gilgit-Baltistan’s most photographed spot β often called “Heaven on Earth.” The lake’s striking colour, the surrounding gardens, and the famous airplane restaurant (a decommissioned aircraft repurposed as a dining space) make it the single most recognisable image of a Skardu trip.
It gets genuinely busy in peak season (JuneβAugust), particularly around midday when day-trip groups from Skardu city arrive. For the quieter, more photogenic version, aim for early morning or sunset.
