Where is Skardu?
Skardu is the main town of Baltistan, in Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan region, sitting at about 2,228m along the Indus River, roughly 480km north of Islamabad.
When to go
Summer (June–August) is peak season with every road and pass open, including Deosai National Park. Spring (April) brings cherry blossoms; autumn (September) brings golden foliage and thinner crowds; winter (December–February) is quiet, cold, and genuinely underrated for photography. How to get there
