Satpara Lake sits just 8km from Skardu city, making it one of the most accessible — and most frequently visited — lakes in the region, though it’s often treated as a quick stop rather than a destination in its own right.
What makes it worth a proper visit
Fed by glacier meltwater from the surrounding peaks, Satpara’s water has a distinctive turquoise-green colour that photographs beautifully, especially in the morning before the wind picks up. It also serves as the gateway route to Deosai National Park, so most visitors pass it at least twice.
