Three days is tight for Skardu, but with tight planning (and flying rather than driving) you can still get a genuine taste of the region’s highlights.
Day 1: Arrive & Shangrila
Fly in, check in, and spend the afternoon at Shangrila Resort β Lower Kachura Lake, the airplane restaurant, and a relaxed introduction to the region.
Day 2: Deosai (the priority day)
A full-day 4×4 expedition to Deosai National Park β Sheosar Lake, wildflower meadows, and if you’re fortunate, a distant brown bear sighting. This is the single highlight most worth prioritizing if your time is limited.
Day 3: Shigar Fort & Fly Home
A morning at Shigar Fort and the Katpana Cold Desert, then transfer to the airport for your afternoon or evening flight home.
What you’ll have to skip
Khaplu Valley, the full Kachura Lakes experience, and Skardu’s smaller side valleys don’t fit into three days alongside Deosai β if forced to choose, we’d always prioritize Deosai over Khaplu on a short trip, since it’s the more singular experience.
Our honest advice
If you can stretch to 5 days, do β it meaningfully improves the trip without a huge extra time cost. But three days, done right, is far better than not going at all, and our 5-Day Skardu Air Package can be trimmed to this shorter structure on request.
